The quilt for my brother is finished! Huray! I’m feeling really good about Christmas being on FRIDAY! I still have more sewing, sewing, sewing to do but if I keep that lead foot on the petal of my sewing machine like I’ve been doing for the last 3 weeks I’m confident I’ll get it all done! Maybe, just maybe, I’ll fit that visit to the eyebrow lady in somewhere…I’m not lovin the Muppet style eyebrows I’ve been sporting the last couple of weeks!
This was the first time i’ve ever used the free motion quit setting and it’s pretty hard to keep your curves nice n’ even, so I ended up just going crazy with it most of the time! It was fun!
To construct this quilt I started by sewing the front and back pieces right sides together leaving an opening to pull the quilt right side out. Then I sewed all the way around the outside edge. Then I placed all the circles where I wanted them, ironed them down with some fusible webbing, and quilted them down. TaDA! Done!

Gorgeous quilt! I've been jonesing to do an actual quilt… this post made me feel even more that way!
Awesome machine!
Fun…fun!!
Madeline! It is beautiful! Ok so as I am understanding here – no binding right?? I am working on a quilt that I must finish tonight… and I think I may just do exactly what you did – flip it and then sew a border around – kind of a faux binding if you will. Am I right? I think this looks really good. I did a quilt earlier this year and hand stitched the binding – it took me about 12 hours just to stitch it!! I am a slow stitcher, and it didn't even look as good as I had hoped with the hand-stitching, I think what you have here is the way to go!! xo
Thanks everyone!!
Georgia- you bet! it's so easy, and fast! I also love the look of binding but I sew mine down with invisible thread. I think it looks great, and beats sitting there for 12 hours!!
